Organic Sacramento Meeting - first monday of the month
Miracles of Sacramento (formerly The Prana Path) at 3120 O Street Monday at 6:30 p.m.
(just a few blocks from the Sacramento Natural Foods Co-op)  Email:

Please join us at one of these upcoming events noted below to promote safer mosquito control, May 15-May 29. For the past several years, the Sacramento-Yolo Mosquito Vector Control District (SYMVCD) has ignored the concerns of Sacramento and Yolo County residents and sprayed pesticides from the ground and air, rather than seeking safer alternatives. As you probably know, the majority of the pesticides sprayed to control West Nile virus, include ingredients that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency lists as suspected carcinogens. Clearly, they shouldn't be sprayed over our heads or fogged in our back yards. And we should go to the greatest sources of the mosquito problems, rather than band-aid solutions. We believe that the District should spend more money on prevention, and eliminate the use of these pesticides.

Please join us in calling on the SYMVCD in calling for SAFE and EFFECTIVE mosquito control. Please attend the annual community forum where the District will listen to community concerns and feel free to bring signs, t-shirts and anything else to show where you stand. Attached is a flyer with background information on WNv spraying. The District has't listened for the past several years, so we are speaking even louder this year. Here are the details on where and when to show up-please spread the word-and help us tell the District "We want SAFE and EFFECTIVE mosquito control".
